Seeding a restoration site with a mix of native seeds for wetlands is a way to ensure quick growth of root structures that will take hold of the soil and prevent excessive erosion. We use mixes of different species that are native to New Jersey and made up of various wetland grasses and flowers. Seeding should take place before the EC blankets are secured to the bank, as the blanket will help protect the seeds from being washed away before they sprout. The new sprouts will grow right through the matting and establish themselves to help stabilize the bank.
