Re-grading the project site is the preliminary step in stabilizing streambanks. In addition to eliminating the steep banks that risk collapsing into the stream, re-grading is necessary to help ensure the success of the additional steps of restoring the stream. Seeding and planting the streambanks are easier on a sloped bank rather than a vertical one, as well.
