Coconut fiber logs are rolled into the trench that was dug into the bottom of the streambank and top of the EC blanket. They should remain in contact with the soil along the entire trench and be covered with water up to half of their diameter. Avoid spaces between the bank and the log, as this will result in water pooling behind the log, which could tear the log away from the bank. If using several logs, make sure that they are sewn together with rope or strong twine, or some other biodegradable material. Weave the twine or rope through the netting surrounding the end of one log and secure through the netting on the end of the next log. The very ends of the logs in your project are secured into the streambank. A small trench or hole is dug into the streambank where the log is bent into and covered with soil.
