Coconut fiber logs are made of interwoven coconut fibers that are bundled into rolls with netting. They provide channel stabilization and can serve as a stabilizer at the toe of the bank or be stacked for remediation of moderate to steep banks. The coconut fiber logs themselves also provide a natural habitat for future plant growth; plugs of wetland plants can be put directly into the logs. The fiber logs come in 20’ by 1’ sections and are often used in conjunction with EC blankets. We try to keep the lengths of our restoration projects such that they are easily divided by 20’. This way there is no need to cut the logs short, which can easily unravel once they lose their netting.
