Pennington Borough entered into the Association’s Program for Municipal Excellence in May 2005.  Pennington Borough is a vibrant, historic small town surrounded by a working rural landscape. The Pennington community has been working to preserve the unique aspects of the town through land use polices and practices. The Borough frequently partners with local and regional organizations to accomplish its goals, including the preservation of open space outside the town boundaries. The municipal assessment identified nine areas in which the Borough can improve implementation of its goals.

A full description of the work completed in Pennington can be found in the Pennington Municipal Assessment Report.  This report is an informal planning document for municipal officials to use now and into the future.  It lays out options to enhance programs or policies already on the books in Pennington Borough and highlights work completed there.
