Butterfly House & Summer Solstice Open House

June 19th, 2017

This week we cheer on the official start of summer with the solstice. The word solstice, in Latin, means “to stand still” and represents the longest day of the year. During the summer solstice, our Earth is at its farthest point from the sun. This event is celebrated all around the world.

The start of summer at the Watershed Center means the seasonal opening of our Kate Gorrie Butterfly House. Join us for light refreshments and informal tours during our free event, Saturday, June 24 from 10a.m. to 1p.m. Advance registration is not required. Bring your friends and family!

Toadshade Wildflower Farm will be selling native plants ideal for nectar and hosts for butterflies and moths. Come celebrate the summer solstice and the seasonal opening of our butterfly house!
