Earth Day is celebrated with action at the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association: We plant trees, remove trash from streams, sell native plants, and host conferences on climate change. We believe this Earth Day is vitally important as we work to combat the most vexing environmental issues of our day.
Founded in April 22, 1970, the first Earth Day heralded the start of the environmental movement as more than 20 million Americans demonstrated for healthy, sustainable environment. With scientific research increasingly under attack, this year’s Earth Day will include a massive March for Science on the National Mall in D.C. along with satellite marches in more than 500 cities.
At the Watershed, we believe that protecting clean water and healthy habitats is a combined effort of staff, volunteers, neighbors and families.
Please join one of our events – geared to adults and children alike – as we work to make a positive impact on our community and natural resources.
