Assistant Director, Watershed Nature Camp – Seasonal 
Salary – $5,300

• Must be 21 or older by July 8, 2019

• Must have experience with team leadership

• Will work with camp director to train and manage staff, and implement summer programming

 

Duties

• Reports to and works closely with the Camp Director

• Co-supervises 16 staff members, 4 CITs, and 80 campers each week

• Works with Camp Director to plan and prepare staff training; train, supervise and evaluate staff; participate in and evaluate camp programming; and complete day-to-day camp administration tasks

• Provides support to Camp Director and Camp Staff as needed

• Keep detailed, organized records

• Daily communication with camp parents

• Join camp groups, when necessary, to help with activities, fill in for absences, or run an activity

• Provides first aid when necessary

• Assists with cleaning and maintenance of the camp buildings, campus, and equipment

Qualifications

Availability to work these dates is required:

Training and Camp prep: Weekdays from May 21 – June 21, 20 hours per week

Ten-day staff training: Weekdays from June 21 – July 3, 8 a.m. – 5:30 a.m. plus one overnight

Seven-week camp: Weekdays from July 8 – August 30, 8 a.m. – 5:30 a.m. plus 7 overnights

• Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certification required by June 24, 2019

• Lifeguard, Wilderness First Aid, and water safety certifications very beneficial

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

• Must enjoy working with kids

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; ability to lift up to 35 pounds

• Ability to work outside in the heat, humidity, and rain; tolerate ticks, poison ivy, thorns, and dirt

• Experience working with children, preferably in a camp or outdoor setting

• Knowledge of local ecology and natural history is beneficial

• Enthusiasm for nature, the environment, and working with children

• Skilled in communication, collaboration, and cooperation

• Strong organization, patience, punctuality, and affinity for teamwork

• Excellent camp spirit, enduring enthusiasm, and flexibility

COUNSELOR – 9 positions available; seasonal salary starts at $3,215

• Must be 17 or older by July 8, 2019

• Works with Group Leader and fellow Counselor to plan, prepare, and implement programming

GROUP LEADER – 5 positions available; seasonal salary starts at $4,230

• Must be 18 or older by July 8, 2019

• Supervises and leads 2 Counselors and 1 Counselor-In-Training

• Works with Counselors to plan, prepare, and implement programming

• Communicates daily with parents about campers

• Record accurate weekly records

Camp Staff Job Duties

• Reports to the Camp Director

• Supervises up to 20 campers ages 5-14

• Works with a team to plan, prepare, teach and evaluate camp programming

• Appropriately models behaviors and uses positive behavior-management techniques

• Conducts day trips, overnight trips, and canoeing trips (most positions)

• Provides first aid

• Cleans and maintains the camp buildings, campus, and equipment

Camp Staff Qualifications

• Availability to work these dates is required (accommodation may be made for school commitments):

Ten-day training: Weekdays from June 21 – July 3, 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., plus one overnight

Seven-week camp: Weekdays from July 8 – August 23, 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., plus up to 7 overnights and/or evenings.  An additional week may be available August 26-30 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

• Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certification required by June 18, 2019

• Lifeguard, Wilderness First Aid, and water safety certifications very beneficial • Must enjoy working with kids

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; ability to lift up to 35 pounds

• Must be 18 or older by July 8, 2019

• Needs to be flexible

• Will work with a variety of ages, as needed, throughout the summer

• Works with Counselors and Group Leaders to plan, prepare and implement programming

• Previous experience with children in a group setting (classroom, camp, daycare, etc.)

Floating Counselor Job Duties

• Reports to the Camp Director

• Supervises up to 20 campers ages 5-11

• Acts as a substitute for Counselors and, occasionally, Group Leaders

• Appropriately models behaviors and uses positive behavior-management techniques

• Conducts day trips and overnights (some throughout the summer)

• Provides first aid

• Cleans and maintains the camp buildings, campus, and equipment

Floating Counselor Qualifications

• Availability to work these dates is required (accommodation may be made for school commitments):
