NJDEP Called to Reject PennEast Wetlands Permit

June 21st, 2017

Team up with the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association, 31 bipartisan county and local officials, and other environmental groups as we urge Bob Martin, Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), to reject PennEast’s permit application for a 120-mile pipeline.

PennEast’s application for a $1 billion natural gas pipeline is unnecessary and incomplete. PennEast faces a June 26 deadline to resubmit portions of its freshwater wetlands permit application, which NJDEP officials deem incomplete.

Elected officials told Commissioner Martin in their joint letter that the PennEast pipeline would impose unacceptable impacts on natural and historic resources, public health and safety, and ratepayers in the region.
