Gabrielle Flora

Gabrielle Flora has dedicated her life to science, sustainability, and shaping young minds! She holds a dual degree in Environmental Science and Journalism, with a minor in Environmental Policies, Institutions, & Behaviors. She studied for a Master’s in Ecology and Environmental Policy from Johns Hopkins University and earned another Master’s in Chemistry from NJCTL. She is also a proud graduate of the NJ Educators at Space Program with NASA in Huntsville, Alabama. And she’s not stopping there—she’s currently working toward her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership at Rowan University!

Gabrielle is a certified educator in the Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Special Education, and Sheltered Instruction in New Jersey. Her journey began with the Americorps where she served 2 terms of service as their environmental curriculum designer. She began teaching in Jersey City at Henry Snyder High School where she helped the school earn its Green Flag Award and was recognized with Jersey City’s Conservation Award. Five years ago, she brought her passion to Trenton’s 9th Grade Academy, leading them to their own Green Flag distinction – the first Green Flag award the City of Trenton has received. Along the way, she’s worked with organizations like the Caribbean Coral Marine Institute, New Jersey Environmental Federation, the BioPharma Research Council, Island Beach State Park, and the Conserve Wildlife Foundation—and even served as a renewable energy ambassador for the GREEN Program. In addition to her roles in TNGA, Gabrielle is a Professor of Chemistry at Ocean County College and the Executive Administrator for the Southern New England Chapter of the Soil and Water Conservation Society.

When Gabrielle isn’t busy as an educator or administrator, she’s busy taking care of her young son, Ezio. Her passions are for travel and reading. She’s visited over 20 countries (with South American and African countries next on her list) and dreams of seeing them all. Though she adores the beach, nothing makes her happier than snow. A lifelong science lover, she hopes to one day earn her Ph.D. in Geology, officially earning the title she’s always wanted: “Ms. Flora, Doc of Rocks.”
