This year, this internationally observed celebration of fresh water will focus on the theme of Water and Gender. Our event will bring together environmental advocates, educators, and community members for a fun, engaging, and informative experience.

Interactive Activities – Participate in hands-on activities and demonstrations designed to educate and inspire individuals of all ages. Engage with Watershed Educators to learn more about the Water Cycle. Try a blind taste test of local waters and vote for your favorite. Take a walk to the vernal pools to see a fascinating habitat.
Community Engagement — Learn how you can make your home and community River Friendly. Connect with local organizations who are helping to protect water resources.
World Water Day is an initiative of the UN and serves as a global reminder of the vital role that water plays in our daily lives and the urgent need to protect it. Join us in celebrating World Water Day and be part of the movement for a sustainable future!
Special Day of Giving
On March 21, 2026 in honor of World Water Day, The Watershed Institute is holding its fifth annual Day of Giving!
World Water Day is an event started by the United Nations in 1993 to raise awareness of the importance of clean water for all. This year, this internationally observed celebration of fresh water focuses on water and gender.
Your support will help us carry out our mission of keeping water clean, safe and healthy in New Jersey.
Your gift will allow us to continue to address the largest threats to clean water – climate change and polluted stormwater runoff – and support our environmental advocacy efforts across the region. You will help us be a model for land conservation as we care for our 950-acre Watershed Reserve with its 10 miles of trails and educate thousands of children and adults each year about water and conservation issues.
