The Season of Pollinators: Butterfly Milkweed

Butterfly milkweed (Asclepias tuberosa) is excellent for attracting butterflies, bees, and wasps with its bright orange color and nectar production. It is a host plant for the monarch butterfly, providing food in the form of foliage for the caterpillars.

It’s a native plant of eastern and southwestern North America. Once established, it is drought-tolerant and low-maintenance. This plant is a great option for gardens, and it is currently blooming right in front of our Watershed Center.
