The 10th Annual NJ Watershed Conference

Getting It Done for NJ Watersheds

Notice: New date for the 10th Annual NJ Watershed Conference. Hybrid sessions will occur on March 4, 2027 with additional activities and virtual sessions tentatively scheduled for February 2027.

The Watershed Conference offers sessions that will increase knowledge and skills, encourage discussions between stakeholders, and foster collaboration on specific issues and potential solutions. Our audience includes state, municipal, and county officials and staff, nonprofit organizations, and environmental professionals. This year’s theme is “Getting It Done for NJ Watersheds.” We are looking for and organizing sessions that touch on a variety of topics relevant to our audience tracks such as:

– Case studies of projects that demonstrate creative approaches and best practices for design, maintenance and retrofitting of projects to improve watersheds.

– Effective strategies for stakeholder engagement and education.

– Funding sources for watershed restoration and maintenance.

With every storm, every extremely hot day, each month there isn’t enough rain, and all the unusual and hazardous conditions NJ communities are facing, we are reminded that change needs to happen today to protect people and restore our watersheds. It is time to move conversations just from planning and into effective implementation so that we can “Get It Done for NJ Watersheds.”

Explore our page and links below to learn more about the theme, audience tracks we are planning for the conference, and the call for session proposals.

Getting Things Done for Our Watersheds

With every storm, every extremely hot day, each month there isn’t enough rain, and all the unusual and hazardous conditions NJ communities are facing, we are reminded that change needs to happen today to protect people and restore our watersheds. It is time to move conversations just from planning and into effective implementation so that we can “Get It Done for NJ Watersheds.” Questions driving the theme include:

  1. How can we be more efficient and achieve policy targets with dwindling resources/funding?
  2. How do we best support the work, people, and long-term maintenance/outcomes?
  3. What do we need to do today to protect our watersheds? What policies and practices do we need to adopt?
  4. What are some examples of ‘out-of-the-box’ thinking from other places or projects that we can implement in NJ communities?

Sponsorship

Your sponsorship supports our mission to keep water clean, safe, and healthy.

This is a great opportunity to get your name out in front of hundreds of attendees including municipal leaders, engineers, watershed advocates, businesses, and community members who will need to work together across municipal boundaries to solve New Jersey’s environmental problems. Your sponsorship will help defray conference expenses and allow us to keep registration fees low. It will also provide scholarships for students and others requiring financial aid. A table will be reserved for all sponsors who support the conference at the $1,000 level or above.

To become a sponsor, please reach out to Pri Oliveira, The Watershed Institute’s Outreach Specialist, at conference@thewatershed.org with the subject line: [Watershed Conference Sponsor]. You can also call 609-737-3735 ext. 27 with any questions.
