Nature Shop Manager - Part-time

Nature Shop Manager Part Time Position 10-15 hrs/wk

Pay Rate: $15/hr.


The Watershed Institute, a dynamic and multifaceted nonprofit conservation organization, is seeking a part-time Nature Shop Manager, located inside of the Watershed Center, to manage all aspects. The Watershed is committed to building a culturally diverse organization and strongly encourages applications from people of color.

Specific Tasks and Responsibilities

Manage Inventory:

  •  Purchase inventory wholesale
    Enter new inventory into Doubleknot
  • §  Label new inventory and set out for display
  • §  Store inventory not currently on display
  • §  Create seasonal inventory displays
  • §  Create new Barcodes when needed
  • §  Adjust inventory prices as needed
  • §  In January, conduct a complete inventory of all items currently in stock and adjust Doubleknot as needed
  • §  Maintain weekly shop sales report log


Manage Cash:

§  Prepare daily cash deposits

§  Manage the cash register drawer

·        Maintain a bank of $67.50

·        Maintain a useful mix of coins/bills either through making change from petty cash, or going to the bank

§  Create and manage a separate bank for Butterfly Festival


Manage Shop:

·        Create seasonal display on cabinets

·        Update supplier and artist wall as needed

·        Keep displays looking attractive

§  Tidy up shirts, books, jewelry, etc.

§  Rearrange shelves to grab attention

§  Find new ways to display items

§  Remove empty boxes/baskets


When the room is rented:

§  Remove all floor displays to the electrical room or basement (other than shelves)

§  Store shelves under hanging cabinets.

§  Set store back up

·        Take down can take 3 or more hours depending on help

·        Set up can take 5 or more hours depending on help


Special Projects:

·        As needed, acquire items for special events.

·        Attend conferences when possible and set up satellite shop
