Fall Family Camp – Nov. 5 & 6

October 28th, 2020

We are excited to offer Family Camp next week and will do some seasonal activities in a safe, socially distanced fashion.

Our 2.5-hour sessions will be held on Thursday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 6 with staggered start times available each day in the morning and afternoon. Our Watershed Educators will be leading the following sessions:

HIKE IT OUT (Ages 8+) Come stretch your legs and explore the wilds of the Watershed property. We’ll trek to some of our favorite far-away spots on the 950-acre Watershed Reserve, like the Hobbit Tree or Big Boulder. As we walk, our Watershed Educators will share information about our ecology and habitat as we learn about the many plants and critters that reside here.

ANIMAL DETECTIVES (Ages 5+) Become a wildlife sleuth and search for clues about the animals that inhabit the 950-acre Watershed Reserve. We’ll look at tracks, scat, bones, fur, feathers and other animal signs and will learn some basic wildlife identification skills. We’ll also bring outside some of our Watershed Center animal residents to share with you.

SURVIVAL (Ages 5+) Can you build a shelter that will weather a storm? Families will explore some survival scenarios with Watershed Educators and learn basic survival skills, such as building shelters in the woods with leaves, twigs, and fallen logs. We will also learn how to safely build and start a fire in all types of weather.

Dress for the weather of the day. Masks, social distancing, and adult attendance required.
