Summer Solstice Trail Run/Walk on June 20 – In-Person & Virtual

June 15th, 2021

Join us for our 2nd annual Solstice Run on June 20! This year we are offering in-person and virtual race options! All participants will be supporting The Watershed Institute’s mission to protect our environment and keep our water clean, safe, and healthy.

The Watershed Center will be open to runners only to access the bathrooms but will be closed to the general public until 1 p.m. on race day.  No dogs or strollers are allowed on the trail during race day. Please register before 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 19, when run signups will close.

DETAILS FOR IN-PERSON RUNNERS

Parking: Parking will be on the Watershed property. Parking attendants will direct you where to park your vehicle.  If parking on The Watershed Institute’s property reaches capacity,  we will use the parking in the corporate campus on Titus Mill Road across from the Watershed property (the former BMS lot).

Check-in: Please go to the large registration tent and check in to receive your race bib and pins.  All runners must pre-register; unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate walk-in registrations on race day.

Start times: The 5K and 10K races will both start at 9 a.m.  We ask the fastest runners, who complete an 8-minute mile, to start first. We anticipate all racers will have started within 10 or 15 minutes.

Signage: There will be race marshalls on the course, but please watch for the split in the course past Wargo Pond for the 10k and 5k distances.

Water: Please bring your own water bottles. No cups of water will be given out this year. Instead, there will be two refilling stations on the course with a foot pump.

Bathrooms: The public restrooms inside of the Watershed Center will be open to runners. Everyone must wear a mask inside of the building. There is also a port-a-potty at the parking lot near the Watershed Center and another one near Wargo Pond.

Swag bags: After you’ve completed your race, please collect your swag bag from the registration tent.

Safety measures: Although COVID-19 restrictions have been loosened by the governor, we want to keep our racers and volunteers safe. *Masks will be required where distance is not possible, but not required during the race.* There will be no water cups, you must bring your own water bottle if you would like water along the course. The water stations will be foot pump-operated to limit touchpoints.

Awards: There will be awards to the first male and female racers who place in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in both the 5k and 10k races. These awards will be for various age groups: ages 19 and under; ages 20-39; ages 40-59; and ages 60 and up.

Refunds: There are no refunds and we thank you for supporting Watershed Institute.

DETAILS FOR VIRTUAL RUNNERS

We’ve added some exciting features to our virtual races. The virtual races will be 1 mile, 5K, 10K, and 15K distances and we have expanded the race dates. The Virtual Walk/Run will take place from Friday through Sunday (June 18-20).

You will be able to choose to run your distance anywhere you like, or you can now choose to run the racecourse on the Watershed Reserve anytime throughout the weekend through the RaceJoy app (please check your email for instructions or download here).

Pick your distance and where you would like to run and join us for some virtual running fun!

Participants in all of the virtual races will receive a digital bib to wear on race day, a completion certificate, a Solstice Run T-Shirt or Racer tank. (Please check your email for details).
