May 1st, 2020

Sophie Glovier Municipal Policy Specialist

The Watershed Institute welcomes two new additions to its staff:

Sophie Glovier, Municipal Policy Specialist, has worked to protect and enhance the local environment for over two decades. She has served as Chair of the Princeton Environmental Commission and was Director of Philanthropic Support at D&R Greenway Land Trust, leading the effort to raise the funds necessary to preserve the St. Michaels Farm Preserve in Hopewell, NJ. Sophie has been a team member of C-Change Conversations, helping to educate others about the risks of climate change, and has served as a board member of D&R Greenway Land Trust, Friends of Princeton Open Space, Sustainable Princeton, and The Watershed Institute. Sophie is the author of Walk the Trails In and Around Princeton and is the recipient of D&R Greenway’s Donald B. Jones Award and Sustainable Princeton’s Leadership Award. She is a graduate of Princeton University and Columbia Business School and received a Post Masters Certificate in Sustainability Strategy from the New School. She may be contacted at [email protected]

Ellen Gallos Education Manager

Ellen Gallos, Education Manager, is thrilled to join The Watershed Institute as Education Manager. She will use her experience in education administration and teaching – most recently at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, PA –  to bring organization and joy to the programs at the Watershed. Earlier in her career,  Ellen was the Master Electrician for a theater company in Massachusetts where she regularly climbed to heights of 80+ feet to hang lights and run hundreds of yards of cable. Ellen strongly believes that educating young people about the world they live in, our water, and how we are all connected will give them the tools to create a better future for us all. Appreciating and understanding our environment empowers us not just to love it, but protect it. Ellen can’t wait to engage students of all ages at the Watershed with fun and interesting programs! She is a graduate of Smith College. Ellen may be contacted at [email protected]
